Fresh Snack Program:
We've partnered with the Youth Farm Project's Fresh Snack Program to provide locally-grown, fresh fruits and vegetables to over 1200 students in the Ithaca City School District twice per week. In this program, we work with our network of over 20 local farms to source all of the fruits and vegetables, wash and prepare them, and then deliver to the schools to be distributed in classrooms.
Shared Use Kitchen:
We currently rent space to 6 different local food businesses, from caterers to farms making value-added products. Our space is licensed by New York State Department of Ag & Markets and is recognized as a viable commissary kitchen by the Tompkins County Health Department. Speaking and Consulting:
We've had the honor of presenting on local food processing, starting a local food business, and lacto-fermentation--both for commercial production and at the home-scale! Over the past 5 years, we've given talks at farming conferences such as NOFA-NY Winter Conference and the Pennsylvania Association of Sustainable Agriculture, as well as smaller venues. Have an abundant crop you're not sure what to do with? Want to extend your season for farmers' market or a year-round CSA? Get in touch! We have developed products to preserve almost all of the common "market mix" of vegetables. We can develop products relatively quickly as well as design custom-labels.
