Crooked Carrot's products are split into 4 main categories, based on how they're made or where you'd find them in the store. And as with everything we do - 100% of our fresh ingredients year round are sourced from farms within 50 miles of Ithaca, NY.
Our longest-standing enterprise, we make over 20 naturally-fermented products, including classics such as sauerkraut, curtido, dill pickles, and napa cabbage kimchi. Additionally, we make many unique ferments such as Dilly Beast (dilly beans with applewood smoked beets), escabeche, cucumber kimchi, and nettle kraut -sauerkraut fermented with wild-harvested medicinal nettles, garlic, and burdock root. Finally, we use the process of fermentation to preserve ingredients and condiments; such as our Louisiana-Style Hot Sauce, Minced Garlic, and Minced Ginger (preserved baby ginger grown here in the Finger Lakes). Though some of our products remain the same throughout the year, many vary through out the seasons to reflect local availability!
Crooked Carrot Fresh! products are mostly found in the produce aisle. These include triple-washed, chopped kale, as well as winter rainbow salad mix: a blend of napa cabbage, red cabbage, and a rainbow of root vegetables. Recent Fresh! additions include salsa fresca and bruschetta!
In the cannery, we make primarily applesauce - sourcing our apples from two of our regions organic orchards - Hemlock Grove and West Haven Farm. Always unsweetened, every batch contains a blend of varieties, balancing sweetness and tartness without the use of sugar. Both plain and ginger-cardamom available! More shelf-stable condiments in the works!
We also preserve frozen san marzano tomato puree and butternut squash puree in bulk. These are great for chefs and other food service professionals that want to use local ingredients but have limited space and time to "preserve" seasonal ingredients.
